Developing a website, now as easy as counting 1, 2, 3… All thanks to Joomla technology!

Joomla technology is a website development tool designed for starters and masters in website construction. It is more on content management rather than on web development itself. ISchools project under Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) requires from their recipients to put up a website of their school.

Visayas State University (VSU) held a one-week website development training last October 15 – 19, 2007. Magdalene A. Cesar, a faculty from the Department of Computer Science and Technology (DCST-VSU), acted as the resource person. The participants were from the iSchools project recipients in the provinces of Leyte, Cebu and Bohol. These are the all under VSU’s area of responsibility. It was composed of senior highschool students and English teachers who have no knowledge on website development.

The training was to equip participants with the techniques on the development of a website.

  • building a website
  • posting and editing news contents
  • managing the website
  • layouting the website

At the end of the one-week training, the participants developed their first website, as expected of them, a skill that might have taken them months to learn without the components from Joomla Technology. Visit http://www.ischools.vsu.edu.ph for some of the website developed by the participants.
